A tad straighter than most of the clubs listed here, Sharp Boy Steven's request for some photos of Anarchy's launch night persuaded me down to the latest in a long-line of hard house parties at the revamped Fridge.

Anarchy launch party (Pic by Martin, 22/05/2004) Getting there early, so as not to miss the action, it seemed like there might not be any, the opening set played by Peter Ward (and one of his friends), being mainly to an empty dancefloor... aside from the bizarre girl in the pink and white ra-ra skirt. And me, naturally, as I've got no shame when it comes to any empty dancefloor. Things really got kicking once Lisa Pin-Up took to the decks, and the previously bored-looking young crowd erupted into a sea of waving arms and smiling faces, Lisa milking her adoring fans of every ounce of sweat and testosterone, even the boys putty in her nimble arms! Anarchy punk (Pic by Martin, 03/2004) With the night becoming increasingly frantic, aside from a few forays into the smaller Funky Punk room to hear the Sharp Boys (mainly George, Steve was running around greasing the wheels to keep the successful launch on track), I stayed in the main room, where Lisa eventually made way for Andy Farley, the Godfather of Hard House.

After a few weeks of club disillusionment, Anarchy gave this Stella back her groove, with a fantastic night out, quality music, no attitude and no collapsed bodies. I stayed until flat batteries at about 4.30 in the morning - the camera for a change, not me - forced me to bow out!

Due back on the 26th June, with the Queen of Trade, Rachel Auburn, set to rock the house in Andy and Lisa's place, this could be the club that puts hard house back at the forefront of the London dance scene.

Well it lasted until November, which puts it ahead of most of the failed ventures to grace The Fridge in 2004! It promises to be back in 2005, which could be nice...
