FACTORY - gone Much to Fiction's detriment, Factory, at Soho's K-Bar (a.k.a T2 Bar) was probably the best Friday-nighter in London, with the best of Factor 25's DJ gods (and the odd dodgy guest), and as always with the Factor boys, one of London's nicest venues.Where I first got to hear the very sexy Stevie P, Rob Sykes, Luke Silver, and Guy Williams, and where Jeffrey Hinton won my heart forever by playing Clap Your Hands from Africanism's Edony... And though he had already moved on shortly before his death, Chris McKoy will always remain one of my Factory stars. Forced out of its Wardour Street home by Short-but-Sweet Suite, Factory reappeared for four weeks at Rouge, its new home retaining K-Bar's funky and cruisy atmosphere, reminiscent of the London Apprentice in terms of the mix of people and sweaty dancefloor action.
The success of Action meant that, like big sister Factor 25, London's sexiest Friday-nighter seems doomed never to return... but with Factor 25 now relaunched as an afterhours party, who knows what's in store for Factory. Until it returns, treasure those K-Bar memories! And for those who ask, the venue in Vauxhall named Factory is nothing to do with this much-loved club. And to prove that point, don't be surprised if Factory follows Factor 25's footsteps for an equally spectacular return to the London club scene...
