Weekly - Sundays 5.30am-superlate

Bit of a late entry for this one, as the routine distractions of Beyond and Trade kept me from returning to Twist for a couple of years after the opening party!

Finally bored with Beyond, and with Trade's inconsistent music delaying any chance of a return to a weekly schedule, I met with friends at the mutual ground of London's only weekly hard house after-hours party, Twist, at the current pivot to the Vauxhall scene, Fire.

For a start, the music in the hard house room was a lot better than the last Trade on New Year's Day, and despite arriving before 6am, I was still dancing when Twist began to give way to Later at Noon! The big surprise, however, was the music from the second room, not hard house, but rather a twisted funked-up electro house, that I'd only heard before in the Red Box at Space in Ibiza, only this time from a young DJ named Alex Parsons.

Though I'll still be going to Trade when it returns in February, as in terms of atmosphere it has its after-hours rivals beat hands-down, it's nice to know that there is real alternative on the after-hours scene.

Twist's moved now, playing musical chairs and pass-the-parcel with the rest of Vauxhall's party scene, though this move seems to be a hit with the clubbers who go regularly to Twist. With there now four Sunday morning after-hour parties in Vauxhall, it will be interesting to see how many winners emerge.

Twist still comes highly recommended.
